NOW, It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

Last night I was feeling somewhat depressed (mainly due to my 3 week illness streak with no confirming test results) and I commented that this holiday season was "lame". I was so on top of all my Christmas shopping (in NOV.), Christmas decor, etc. However, once the pain streak hit I have yet to do anything. No Christmas cookies (even though the cookie cutters and ready and sugar cookie dough has been in the fridge for a while now), no re-reading of the gospels birth of baby Jesus, no lights were hung, no Christmas classics played, and it was bumming me out. I missed my mom's house with the fireplace blazing, 9 ft. tree brightly lit, cider in hand, with the pungent smell of goodies lingering. My sweet husband played me some Christmas tunes on the guitar, but I ultimately went to bed not feeling the true joy of the holiday spirit.

Then after work I came home to THIS:

Lights on the balcony

Colorful lights wrapped around our tree

Thanks so much my sweet husband, you brightened my day!

Even though I still feel ill and have some presents to finish, I am experiencing the true Spirit of Christmas...

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.

Isaiah 9:6-7

  1. Awesome post Mel. I like the different color lights on the tree, by the way.
