One Year already, seriously?

July SEVENteenth 2010 marked Matt and I's one year anniversary! I cannot believe it has already been a year and it feels like just yesterday we were shoving cupcakes in each others faces!

We had the most romantic 5 course dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy and I was one bite of creme brulee away from being rolled home. We decided to exchange gifts based on the "modern" guide of what to give... paper. I got Matt and 1.5 hour massage, which he had been mentioning for the last year. He got me a book, an Anthro gift card and... well a paper weight. Oh, exxxxcuse me, a paper "waite". My creative husband went to a trophy shop and had a paper weight engraved to say, "A paper 'waite' for our first year. I love you 7/17/10". While, it might not have been the romantic gift I was anticipating, he definitely gets points for thinking outside the box. *picture to come*

Throughout of first year, we had some downs and plenty of ups. He is my partner, my encourager, my lover, my leader, and my BEST friend. I enjoy playing with him, crying with him, praying with him, and laughing AT him :) God absolutely had me in mind when he created my wonderful husband and I cannot imagine my life without him. He makes me a better friend, lover, and woman of God and I know our purpose is to be better together than apart!

Happy 28th Birthday Lover!

i am ripping this idea off a friend's blog, but i dedicate this blog to my husband...

28 reasons why my husband is the best!

1. He always puts the toilet seat down (even i do not do that...by the way, this list is in no particular order)

2. He always greats me with a kiss

3. He rarely ever has anything negative to say

4. He is never full (between my gluten-free items and his endless appetite, our grocery bill is out of control)

5. He is soooo brilliant!!!

6. He is constantly encouraging me about my new life diet and finding new restaurants we can BOTH eat at (NEWLY DISCOVERED: SUSHI AT KONA GRILL)

7. He has started to become really in-tune with his fashion sense

8. He has the memory of a goldfish (although there are times this is not so endearing)

9. He is a Jersey boy (minus the greased out hair and funky accent)

10. He seems to be a magnet for gay men (better than women, right?)

11. I know he will be an AMAZ-ing dad!!!

12. He has such beautifully wavy, blond hair

13. He is a connoisseur of fine brews (I am allergic to beer, nor have I ever wanted to drink it, but I appreciate that he sets his standards very high)

14. I take up about 75% of our bed space and often yell mean things at him in my sleep when he pushes me over, but he never takes is personally :)

15. He does not like the Dallas Cowboys (GO GIANTS)

16. He has great taste in music/He always drives when we travel

17. I will never have to deal with another cockroach for this rest of our lives

18. He also allows me to have 75% of our closet space

19. He always makes me feel beautiful

20. He folds clothes better than I can

21. His eyes look like little sunflowers

22. I love when he plays, "From the Depths of Woe" (I cry every time, thank you God for hymnals)

23. He has so much humility ("All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble'" 1 Peter 5:5)

24. He indulges in my Twilight excitement (note I did not put obsession)

25. He dyes my hair for me (Shhhh, he secretly dyes my hair)

26. He asked me and I said, "YES"
27. He uses his cell phone light to pick out clothes early in the morning whenever I am still asleep

28. He is an unbelievable man of God... I look forward to seeing him grow and strengthen as our spiritual leader, become a dad, hold our babies, travel the world together, and be fully committed to each other and our Jesus for the rest of our lives.

Life is SOOOO crazy right now. I love school, but sometimes I feel like it doesn't love me. I read so much that by the end of the night my eyes are crossed! I'm 6 days in, but in accelerated terms that means 6 weeks. And the best part of my day is coming home to this sweet face...

And this sweet face ;)

3's Company

We are a family of three now... Welcome the newest member to the Waite clan, Trist! Seriously, taking care of a puppy gives me so very smalllll idea of what it will be like to have kids someday! Trist is a 15 week Border Collie we adopted through All Border Collie Rescue out of Houston, TX. Matt and I had our hearts set on getting a BC and were contacting breeders left and right. We love their intelligence and high drive! So in scanning the internet for breeders in TX, I came across this rescue. These people are true servants, driving whereever they are called to rescue a pup from being put down. All the dogs are fostered in homes so they get the best attention they deserve! And so far we have not been disappointed! Our boy is so smart and kind. He is already following certain commands and we are trying to teach him more everyday. Hopefully, we will have him in puppy kindergarten soon! We are crate training so he howls when we leave, but usually just wants to nap on the floor and be snuggled. Plus, he loves to play fetch, which was a HUGE selling point for Matt. We hope when he's big enough we can get him into agility and frisbee tricks!

Since we brought our little buddy home he had been nothing but perfect. He didn't cry at night, he didn't really bite and did not even have an accident in the house!!! What what?!?! He was like the most mature pup I had ever seen. Until Tuesday...

My sweet sister-in-law came over to check on him since it would be his first afternoon solo while I had class. She said he has pooped in his crate and tore something up. Luckily, I got out early and came home to this...

My darling boy chewed up his brand new kennel mat!

Who me?

Sorry mom!

Puppies will be puppies! And all things considered he is still pretty perfect!

To Grandmother's House We Go!

This past weekend, Matt and I took a little road trip to good-ole, eh well, we went to Houston. While we find the city somewhat depressing, we are happy to make the trip to spend time with family!

God blessed us with AMAZing scenery along the way ...

Bluebonnets are proof God really does bless Texas!

Great company while we were there...

The Gibbs Wedding

On the 1st Day of Spring...

A man and wife exchanged vows...

And while it looked like Spring...

It didn't feel like Spring, brrrrr...

Nonetheless friends and family partied the day away...

With German booze...

And carbs galore...

And after a cake fight, a garter toss, and some dancing shared...

They ran, covering their faces, into the sunset!
